Brick Pond Park is a forty acre restored wetland, stormwater treatment system, and public nature park.  Walking trails wind throughout the wetlands and below the canopy of the forested areas.  The park walking trails allow visitors up close encounters with the wildlife that live there.   This includes alligators, deer, river otters, over 111 species of birds (visit throughout the year), turtles, frogs, fish, and more.  The upland acres adjoining the park near the North Augusta Greeneway Trail are preserved for wildlife use and entry is prohibited (see map).  Every trip to the park can bring new adventure and discovery for young and old alike.  Welcome!

Brick Pond Park is located at:   88 Georgia Avenue in North Augusta, SC

This is just off of Center Street below the new Municipal Center at 100 Georgia Avenue.

Parking is available at several locations.  Parking lots within the park can be reached by Railroad Avenue (off Riverside Boulevard traffic circle) or by traveling to the end of Center Street.    Parking Lot A is next to 13th Street Bridge.   Parking Lot B is located off of Railroad Avenue on the other end of the park (follow signs).   Additional parking is available at the entrance of the North Augusta Greeneway on Riverside Boulevard or at the Municipal Center Georgia Avenue.

Stormwater Treatment at Brick Pond Park:  The plants in the constructed wetland  were selected and installed to provide stormwater treatment by removing pollutants through natural processes. Waterfalls were added to provide oxygen and circulation to the system to futher improve water quality.  Trash, sediment, and other pollutants that are brought in through stormwater piping is filtered through pre-treatment wetlands (perched) located above and adjacent to the constructed wetlands.  Center Street separates the treatment wetlands (constructed) from the restored wetlands, East and West Ponds. The restoration of the entire system began in late 2006.  It was completed in November 2008, when the park opened. A five year study is underway to learn more about the system and its inhabitants.  For more detailed information about plants, animals, birds, water quality, and the design visit our web based Science at Brick Pond Park library.
