Citizen commitment
to recycling has made North Augusta one of the few communities in
South Carolina to reach the goal of 30% recycling. In the past year,
the City's Material Recovery Facility removed for recycling 31%
of the solid waste collected. Thanks to the participation and support
of its citizens, North Augusta's blue-bag program is recognized
as one of the best recycling programs in the State.
The City currently
recycles the following material: newspapers, magazines, cardboard,
steel cans, scrap metal, aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars,
plastic milk jugs, plastic soda bottles, plastic detergent bottles,
used motor oil and batteries.
After pickup,
the City separates the bagged recyclable materials from the household
garbage. The recyclable materials are sold to reprocessing companies
and the household garbage is taken to the landfill. For further
information about North Augusta's Recycling Program, please call
803-441-4245.
