NORTH AUGUSTA'S STORMWATER MANAGEMENT PROGRAM

stormwater Management Program

Stormwater Management is our community's effort to provide flood control and water quality protection.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has established regulations for protecting our waters from pollutants. To meet these federal regulations, the City of North Augusta must maintain and enforce a Stormwater Management Plan.

Required plan components include:

  • building and maintaining drainage systems to alleviate local flooding problems,
  • inspecting, cleaning and maintaining the drainage systems,
  • providing stream bank protection,
  • monitoring construction sites to ensure that erosion control is maintained, and
  • creating public awareness programs that help protect and improve our water quality.

The city adds a Stormwater Management Service Fee to monthly utility bills to help maintain the Stormwater Management Plan as required by the EPA.
