The Department of Finance/General Services provides financial and administrative support services to the other city departments and to the citizens of North Augusta. Services include budget administration, accounting, purchasing, data management, tax collection, business licensing and human resources.

BUSINESS LICENSING

The City of North Augusta requires that all businesses operating within the city limits obtain a city business license. Businesses are classified according to the North American Industry Classification System (NAICS). The business license fee for each class is computed in accordance with City Rate Classification Indexes. The
city offers a Business Startup Guide and an Economic Profile to those interested in starting a business in North Augusta. These document can be downloaded by clicking on the links above or a copy can be requested by calling 803-441-4224.

The city's Human Resources Division maintains systems to attract, motivate, develop and retain employees. Human Resources also provides salary administration and employee benefits administration to attract and retain qualified employees, posts and advertises departmental position openings and provides orientation to new employees. Property Taxes - Taxes on Real property and merchants' inventory are levied on January 1 of each year and are based on ownership of such property and inventory as of January 1 of the preceding year. These taxes are billed and payable between January 1 and May 1 of the year in which they are levied. As of May 2, property taxes attach as an enforceable lien on property.
