About the Activities Center
|
The 94,000 square foot Riverview Park Activities Center opened in August, 1993. The Activities Center contains four gymnasiums, and its many amenities attract users of all ages. One of the unique features of the facility is the 1/6 mile indoor walking/jogging track overlooking Riverview Park and the Savannah River. Suspended above the gymnasiums, the 15-foot wide track has two flat lanes for walkers and two banked lanes for runners. Fitness enthusiasts can work out in the weight and fitness area or enjoy a game of racquetball on one of two courts. Exhibition area and meeting rooms are also available for community meetings and special events.
The Riverview Park Activities Center is the site of the annual Nike Peach Jam Basketball Tournament, which showcases 24 of the top AAU teams throughout the nation. In November it is the site of an American Kennel Club Regional Dog Show. Throughout the year the Activities Center hosts many other special events ranging from health fairs to athletic tournaments.
