ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Residents and visitors of all ages enjoy an extensive array of recreational activities and services through the Department of Parks, Recreation and Leisure Services. With numerous public parks, a state-of-the-art Activities Center, a multi-functional Community Center and a broad spectrum of athletic programs, classes and camps, North Augusta is truly a center for recreation. COMMUNITY CENTER

The North Augusta Community Center is a 14,000 square foot banquet and meeting facility conveniently located at 495 Brookside Drive in North Augusta. This location is easily accessible to Richmond, Edgefield and Aiken counties. The Community Center is available to rent for weddings, receptions, parties, reunions, civic clubs and business meetings. GREENEWAY TRAIL

Named for former Mayor Thomas W. Greene, the North Augusta Greeneway currently provides over seven miles of paved recreational trail. The majority of the Greeneway is located on an abandoned railroad right of way purchased by the city in 1988. MORE...

 

LIONS MEMORIAL FIELD

Lions Memorial Field is one of North Augusta’s oldest recreational facilities. It was named for the North Augusta Lions Club who leased the property from the city for $1.00 per year. The Lions Club developed and operated the field for almost 30 years. Primarily used for football and community events, Lions Field was recently returned to the city and in 1999 received a $1.4 million dollar renovation that included new grandstands, a new concessions pavilion, new restroom facilities, new playground equipment and new practice fields. RIVERVIEW PARK ACTIVITIES CENTER

The 94,000 square foot Riverview Park Activities Center contains four gymnasiums, and numerous amenities that attract users of all ages. Suspended above the gymnasiums and overlooking Riverview Park and the Savannah River, a 15-foot wide walking/jogging track has two flat lanes for walkers and two banked lanes for runners. Fitness enthusiasts can work out in the weight and fitness area or enjoy a game of racquetball on one of two courts.
