The City of North Augusta is accepting applications for Superintendent of Building Standards. Under limited supervision, plans, directs, and supervises the interpretation, enforcement, and administration of City building codes and related ordinances and standards. Performs related administrative, supervisory, and technical work as required. Reports to the Director of Engineering / Public Works. Requires an Associate’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering or related field, supplemented by four to five years of experience in field inspection and plan review, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess Building Official certification from the ICC and must obtain Floodplain Manager Certification from the ASFPM within first 6 months of employment. Must possess a valid state driver’s license. Annual salary $66,800 DOQ. Medical Insurance and excellent benefits provided. The City of North Augusta is seeking applicants for the position of Public Safety Officer. Patrols assigned areas of the City and responds to calls for service, performs fire suppression, emergency medical first responder, dispatch, and related public safety duties. The position requires a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Must have a valid S.C. driver's license. Annual salary is $45,299 with medical insurance and excellent benefits provided. The City of North Augusta is accepting applications for Trolley Drivers to transport guests to SRP Park for Green Jackets baseball games and other special events. Must be available Thursday – Sunday days/nights/weekends/holidays as required. A valid Commercial Driver’s License with a Class C Endorsement is required. Salary: $20.00 per hour. The City of North Augusta is accepting applications for a Part-time Environmental Technician - Stormwater Management Department. The Environmental Technician will work 8-16 hours per week at a rate of $12.00 per hour. The job duties include the following:
- Conducting and/or assisting with stormwater education and outreach activities at Brick Pond Park, city seminars or at local schools
- Preparing spreadsheets, environmental reports, environmental planning documents, and marketing and outreach materials
- Conducting water quality monitoring in city streams and assisting with statistical analysis of data, preparing reports, and resource management option analysis
- Integrating information and GPS data points with GIS maps of stormwater infrastructure; GPS mapping of storm drainage structures
- Assisting with implementation of resource management software and data collection;
- Work on special stormwater projects based on training, experience, and input of qualified applicant.
- And other related duties within the stormwater management department;
The position requires a candidate with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Engineering or Environmental/Science Education or a candidate that is at least a junior working toward a BS in these fields. Candidates must have experience with business computer software (MS OFFICE) and be comfortable, capable and excited about learning additional software or data analysis packages. Strong computer skills are a plus. Other key qualifications include: a self-starter, quick learner with the ability to comprehend and understand scientific information and provide that information in written and verbal formats in an understandable way to scientists, non-scientists, and the general public (youth, adults and seniors). Attitude of the candidate should be enthusiastic and flexible. Candidate must be able to carry equipment (up to 40 lbs.) over rough or rugged terrain several hours at a time in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain) and must be able to remove manhole lids up to 80 lbs. City residency preferred but not required. Must possess a driver’s license.
