Property Maintenance Division
The Property Maintenance Division is responsible for maintaining the aesthetic appearance of landscaped areas to City building sites, gardens, parks, public-right-of-ways, street-scapes, traffic medians, walking trails and entry ways into the City. The division also manages the City's Litter and Mosquito Control Programs.
The City is proud to be a Tree City U.S.A. and Arbor Day registered organization. The City’s trees are maintained by staffed certified Arborists and contractual crews. Some of the tree work includes routine maintenance, removals and replanting.
The City’s litter crew picks up litter on 64 miles of right-of-ways along city, and state roads. Motorist and pedestrians are responsible for creating 30 to 50 percent of all litter. The rest comes from household or commercial garbage, construction sites, and uncovered trucks .
The mosquito control program helps prevent the spread of mosquito-transmitted diseases, such as West Nile, Chikungunya and Zika viruses to the public. During the months of May through September on Wednesday’s of each week during the hours of 4:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. various areas of the City are treated with an ultra-low volume of Permanone spray that is environmentally-friendly and used worldwide to help control mosquitos.
