CURRENT OPENINGS |
The City of North Augusta is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Director of Public Safety. The Department of Public Safety combines fully the functions of police and fire, has 64 full-time employees, 52 sworn officers, 18 volunteer firefighters, with a budget of $5,264,326. Reports to the City Administrator.
Candidates must possess the following qualifications: Bachelors degree in police science, criminal justice, public or business administration, or related field; Masters degree desirable; minimum of 15 years of broad-based experience in all aspects of police work, with at least 7 years in command rank and progressively responsible supervisory experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must obtain certification as a SC Law Enforcement Officer and Firefighter certification. Familiarity with fire services and combined fire and police departments desirable. Must possess strong management, training, and communications skills to build relationships with the officers and leadership skills with vision and goals to lead the department forward. Must be proactive and possess the ability to enhance public understanding and support of police services, activities, and programs. Must lead by example and provide leadership in the core values of respect, highest personal integrity, collaboration, and excellence. Physical fitness standard must be met. Residency required.
