Residential Garbage Collection

Garbage is collected by the curb once per week on the customer's scheduled collection day for bulk trash, recycling and yard waste. Residential sanitation customers are provided a 96 gallon roll cart for disposal of household garbage and blue recycling bags. Only household garbage and recyclables are permitted in roll carts. Roll carts that contain building material, electronics, household hazardous waste, or yard debris will not be emptied. Personal cans or garbage placed outside roll carts will not be collected. It is recommended that all garbage be bagged as customers are responsible for keeping their carts clean and odor free.

Disability Assistance

City staff provides assistance with the curbside placement of roll carts free of charge for customers who are medically incapable. For this service an application is required or if you need further information please email or call 803-441-4240.

Collection Day & Time

Roll carts are serviced once per week and should be placed at the curbside in front of the residence no sooner than 7:00 p.m. the day before collection and no later than 7:00 a.m. the day of collection. Roll carts must be removed from curbside by 7:00 p.m. the same day of collection.

Roll Cart Placement

The City uses automated collection vehicles equipped with mechanical arms designed to lift and empty roll carts. Roll carts should be placed with the front of the cart facing the street within two (2) feet of the edge of the curb or pavement and at least five (5) feet away from obstructions such as fences, mailboxes, power poles and shrubs. The roll cart should never be placed in the road or sidewalk where traffic may be blocked.

Roll Cart Storage

Store your roll cart(s) in an enclosed building or out of view of the public right-of-way once collection has been completed.

Missed Collection

If your roll cart was not emptied on your regular scheduled collection day, please call 803-441-4240 or by email.

Additional Roll Carts

Residential customers are provided with one 96 gallon roll cart. For customer who generate more than 96 gallons of garbage per week we recommend you give recycling a try to help reduce landfill waste and save money. If additional roll carts are needed they may be obtained for an additional monthly fee. You may order an additional roll cart online or by calling the billing department at 803-441-4212.

Roll Cart Repairs and Replacement

Please do not write on, cut, paint, or damage the cart in any way. If your cart is damaged, please call 803-441-4240 or email for repairs or replacements.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal

The City's Storm Water Management Department holds an Annual Hazardous Collection Day Event in May of each year. This is a good way to properly dispose of all hazardous waste products free of charge.

Please close the lid to roll carts after use!

TrashRoll carts with overflowing garbage cause unnecessary litter in our community. Open containers allow rain water to enter into the cart. The water can ruin recyclable material.
